How Long Does Teeth Whitening Last?

We provide two different whitening methods: in-office and at-home treatments. The Zoom!^® Teeth Whitening System, a one-hour procedure performed right in our office, uses a hydrogen-peroxide gel activated by a blue-spectrum light to achieve a dramatic bleaching effect. The results of this procedure are instantaneous. Conversely, with a take-home whitening kit, patients can enjoy the convenience of whitening at their leisure. Using custom-made trays and professional-grade whitening gel, patients can notice the shade of their teeth gradually lighten until they have reached their desired degree of brightness.

Regardless of which whitening treatment is performed, it is possible for new stains and discoloration to develop over time. Touch-up treatments performed at home with customized trays can help extend the longevity of results. Additionally, avoiding foods and beverages known to stain teeth (such as coffee, tea, red wine, and berries), discontinuing use of tobacco products, and attending regular dental visits can help patients enjoy a brighter, more youthful looking smile for up to one year or more after their whitening treatment.
